Quakers and Christmas - A Historical and Contemporary Retrospective
In this presentation, Dan Zemaitis will explore the historical relationship Quakerism had with the Christmas season, as well as contemporary Quaker practices, individual and corporate, related to Christmas' celebration.
Dan is a member of Moorestown Monthly Meeting. He graduated from Moorestown Friends School, Haverford College (B.A. in History) and holds a PhD in Religion and Theology from the Quaker Studies department at the University of Birmingham, UK. He currently teaches Comparative Religion at Rowan College of Burlington County and is the secretary at Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. He has a wife, Kelly, and a 2 and a half year old son named William.

First Fridays at Arch Street: Holiday Celebration
Enjoy an evening in the comfort of your own home celebrating the Holidays with Arch Street Meeting House! Experience Arch Street's Historic West Room by flickering candlelight. Music accompanied by Germantown Friends School Orchestra. This is a free event.
This is a unique opportunity to witness Historic Arch Street Meeting House after hours by candle and moonlight. Views of the Historic West Room will provide a magical look into the past as visitors can experience this historic worship space just as 19th Century Quakers would have experienced it. This virtual event will offer a tranquil place to reflect.

Exhibit Area Design Plan Presentation
Join Executive Director Sean Connolly as he presents a special sneak preview of the recently completed Exhibit Area Design Plan. Learn about what stories we are going to be telling with our updated exhibits, where new outside exhibits will go and how you can help. This will give friends of Arch Street Meeting House Preservation Trust a unique opportunity to learn how exhibits are designed and why they are so important to the public history of Quakerism.

Autumn Family & Friends Picnic
Join us at Arch Street Meeting House for a special sneak preview of the new temporary exhibits in the East Room about Quaker activism and learn about icons of the Women’s rights moment. Also take a walk around the site with Executive Director Sean Connolly to see a special sneak preview of the recently completed Exhibit Area Design Plan. Learn about what stories we are going to be telling with our updated exhibits, where new outside exhibits will go and how you can help. This will give visitors and friends a unique opportunity to learn how exhibits are designed and why they are so important to the public history of Quakerism.
Picnicking welcome before and after your tour. Sean will lead tours and discussions every half an hour from 12-3pm (last tour at 3:00pm).
