Rentals at ASMH | Frequently Asked Questions
Q: WHAT ARE THE HOURS ARCH STREET MEETING HOUSE (ASMH) IS AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL EVENTS?
A: We will happily accommodate rentals on most days and times. All rentals must conclude by 11 PM regardless of the day of the week, and no rentals are permitted on Sundays prior to 12 PM in order to accommodate Meeting for Worship. ASMH also does not permit rentals during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Holidays, as well as the week between Christmas and New Years.
Q: WHO CAN RENT SPACE AT ASMH?
A: ASMH is open to all people who wish to rent the site. We offer subsidized rates to non-profits, Quaker organizations, and social justice groups.
Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RENT SPACE AT ASMH?
A: Rooms at ASMH are rented on an hourly basis with the rate commensurate with the size of the space. The renter is charged for the duration they are on-site, which includes any set-up or break-down times that may be necessary.
We offer package rates for certain rental bookings, such as weddings, which can be applied to non-wedding rentals depending on the circumstances and nature of the rental period. Additional fees apply for private Grounds use, private building use, and rentals occurring over Federal Holiday weekends.
ASMH provides discounted rates to those such as non-profits, Quaker organizations, artist groups, and educational organizations.
Q: DO I NEED A REHEARSAL?
A: Yes. The rehearsal is a vital part of the wedding process for ASMH. The rehearsal is scheduled for the day before the event and the time is to be agreed upon by both the renter and the ASMH staff.
Q: DO I NEED A WALKTHROUGH?
A: Yes. It is required to have two walkthroughs. The walkthrough is an opportunity to ask questions and to see each space available for events.
1. Just with staff and the renter to go over logistics, pricing, and to see the space.
2. Two weeks before the rental date, a walkthrough is needed for any vendor(s), caterer, and renter, and ASMH staff as needed
Q: IS ASMH ACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES?
A: Yes. All rental spaces are accessible and restroom facilities are as well.
Q: IS ALCOHOL ALLOWED?
A: Wine, liquor, and beer are permitted to be served by a licensed caterer or bartender. The sale of any alcohol is prohibited.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A REQUIRED CATERER?
A: No! ASMH welcomes you to bring in a caterer of your choice, upon review of the caterer by ASMH staff. ASMH is also happy to provide a list of preferred vendors with whom ASMH has worked in the past and would recommend. All caterers MUST be made aware of the strict NO OPEN FLAME/OPEN HEAT (Sternos) policy in effect for the entire ASMH property. With a signed contract, renters are also welcome to bring in their own food and beverages.
Q: IS THERE PARKING AT ARCH STREET MEETING HOUSE?
A: Each rental includes 5 free spots for every rental, for the duration of the rental period. For additional parking spots, there are 40 spots available for a fee of $400. Additional use/hours are available for an additional fee and ASMH staff permission.
Q: WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A RENTAL AT ARCH STREET MEETING HOUSE?
A: Rentals at ASMH include the use of our available A/V equipment as needed by the renter. A/V equipment available includes a projector, screens, TV, speakers, and microphones. The use, set up, and tear down of ASMH furniture is also included in every rental.
Q. WHAT SORT OF SPECIAL DECORATIONS ARE ALLOWED?
A. All décor decisions are subject to the approval of the ASMH staff to ensure that they in no way cause any damage to the facility, impede egress from the building in case of emergency, or compromise the service of guests.
Exhibit cases cannot be touched or leaned against. Nothing should be propped against or placed on top of cases including cups, plates, or glasses.
Open flame, including catering sternos, is restricted.
Nothing may be attached to the floor, walls, or ceilings with screws, nails, or other fixtures without permission from ASMH staff. No tape is allowed on wood surfaces.
Real candles are fine, as long as they are in a sealed lantern. And there is a candle monitor that must be provided by the renters.
Glitter, real flower petals, and confetti are not permitted on the premises.
Decorations, signs, etc... may only be hung with blue painter’s tape. The use of any tape besides blue painter’s tape, tacks, nails, glues, or any other adhesive material is strictly prohibited.
For flowers, we ask that they are in a double vase to protect the historic floors and benches from any spillage.
If you bring in an arch, it must have rubber stoppers on the bottom or something that will protect it from scraping on the wood.
